Spark Coverage Cup

Media relations is at the heart of a successful campaign and our team take great pride in beating their colleagues to win the weekly Spark Coverage Cup vote.

The winning piece of coverage isn’t just about circulation or credibility. A great business national or broadcast piece doesn’t always beat trade coverage – outcomes are key. How effectively was the client’s message communicated? What was the engagement like? Did it result in leads?

While earned coverage is now only part of what we do, the impact of what we deliver is often why clients choose to work with us in the first place. It’s why 80% of our clients come through referral and why some of our clients have stayed with us for over ten years.

Below are some of our previous highlights:

Coverage Cup 28/06/2022

We recently marked World Blood Donor Day, with several of the Spark team signing up to donate in support. We also injected some extra fun into the day by hosting a red themed party, with red food and drink to keep our blood sugar levels high after donating. The team hasn’t only been saving lives this week – they’ve also kept the coverage flowing, including in the BBC, The Telegraph, and Forbes.

The Marqeta team kicked things off with “A positive” (see what we did there?) piece in BBC News Online following an interview on how AI smart wallets give consumers more intelligent ways to pay. Marqeta’s research was also covered in The Telegraph, highlighting how Gen Z are ditching their wallets in favour of mobile payments – with more than half of this age group admitting to forgetting their PIN.

The Couchbase team have recently been busy with a “cell-in” for their latest research on cloud spending. Their efforts certainly weren’t in vein, as they secured some great coverage in MicroScope. The report explores how enterprises are overspending on cloud services, with inflexible pricing tools contributing to the problem. The data was also covered in BetaNews, TechRadar Pro and Channel EYE, among others.
Elsewhere, the Venafi team bagged some impressive coverage in Forbes with a global study of 1,000 CIOs – looking at the increase in the number, and sophistication, of supply chain attacks. The research coverage didn’t stop there, with Spryker also securing coverage in Grocery Gazette for a study charting the soaring numbers of people buying groceries online.

Blood is thicker than water, as they say, but we hope you don’t mind us diverting from the theme for a second to talk about Sagacity’s partnership with Southern Water. Our team picked up some great hits in the vertical press, with the likes of Water Magazine and Water Briefing covering how data is being used to identify customers and prevent bill shock.

Some great thought leadership pieces also got our hearts pumping, including an Outseer byline in BetaNews on the rise of fraudulent rogue apps scamming consumers. BetaNews also published MuleSoft’s byline on why IT and business teams must come together to achieve their digital transformation goals.

Continuing with the business transformation theme, Couchbase picked up a placement in TechRadar Pro for their piece on how organisations can generate revenue with cloud computing. Meanwhile the HCL team secured coverage on decentralised finance with Global Banking and Finance Review.

We’ll be back soon with another pulsating Coverage Cup roundup, but until then, you can also check out our blog to see what else we’ve been up to at Spark.
