Spark Coverage Cup

Media relations is at the heart of a successful campaign and our team take great pride in beating their colleagues to win the weekly Spark Coverage Cup vote.

The winning piece of coverage isn’t just about circulation or credibility. A great business national or broadcast piece doesn’t always beat trade coverage – outcomes are key. How effectively was the client’s message communicated? What was the engagement like? Did it result in leads?

While earned coverage is now only part of what we do, the impact of what we deliver is often why clients choose to work with us in the first place. It’s why 80% of our clients come through referral and why some of our clients have stayed with us for over ten years.

Below are the recent highlights:

Coverage Cup 31/08/25

It’s been a great few weeks of coverage for the Spark team. With schools out for summer and families packing their bags for holidays, our HP team has been warning about a scam targeting people with reservations on Booking.com. HP’s latest Threat Insights Report explains how fraudsters have been hijacking accommodation accounts, pretending bookings are at risk to rush customers into sharing banking details. The team secured standout coverage in both The Guardian and Metro with comments explaining the steps criminals take to execute the attack.

Elsewhere in cybersecurity, the SentinelOne team secured coverage in CSO with a deep dive into the world of Nim-based malware – warning how the programming language can create harmful software that is hard to detect. Not to be outdone, our Huntsman team secured a lengthy piece in ISMS Online using FOI data gathered from the UK and Australia to highlight the impact differing regulatory frameworks have on preventing data breaches.

Spark’s news-hijacking game has been on top form. We ran a joint pitch around AI Appreciation Day, sharing comments from a number of clients and securing pieces with AI Business and multiple Tech Day publications.. Meanwhile, the Red Canary team shared advice for security teams around ‘patch Tuesday’, securing coverage in TechFinitive. We’ve also been driving coverage through interviews, including an IOT Insider briefing with Hexaware’s Head of AI at the AI Summit London. Over in life sciences, the Phesi team secured interview coverage in Clinical Trials Arena regarding recent Phase III clinical trial studies in atopic dermatitis.

We’ve also been busy across the board pitching features and thought leadership pieces. Firstly, the Onnec team secured a standout feature in The Register exploring how AI is reshaping the future of data centres. Meanwhile our Sagacity team worked with its customer Blind Veterans on an article for Fundraising Magazine, outlining how smarter use of data is helping reach out to the right people with its direct marketing campaigns. Finally, the Lunaphore team secured byline coverage in Drug Discovery World with a piece exploring how spatial biology is transforming our understanding of diseases.
